Half Sour Pickles from Gregg's

This was from a newspaper clipping from the Providence Journal. Not sure what year. Note that the pickles don't keep very long due to a lack of preservatives.
Ingredients
- Pickling Cucumbers
- 1 ½ tablespoons Pickling Salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons Pickling Spices
- ¼ teaspoon Hot Pepper Seed Or Flaked Red Pepper
- 8 Garlic Cloves Small
- 1 Glass Jar Half Gallon
- 2 cups Water Hot from faucet
Instructions

1Fill a glass jar with washed cucumbers. Packed tightly

2Mix salt, garlic, spices, and pepper in a bowl with 2 cups of hot water

3Stir until salt is dissolved

4Add some cold water until the liquid feels comfortable to the touch (not hot)

5Add to the cucumber jar

6Fill the jar to the top with warm water

7Let stand, loosely covered, for 1 hour

8After 1 hour, tightly cover and refrigerate for 7 days
